Exercise: Object in different positions in the frame

The purpose of this exercise was to take four or five pictures with the subject in different positions:

  • right in the centre
  • a little way from the centre
  • close to an edge or corner

And the first without too much considering the composition. The subject was supposed to be very clear and set within a large, even background. The best, I could think of, was a hot air balloon. This is the first picture. The one without thinking of composition.

Exercise: Fitting the frame to the subject

The purpose of this exercise is to take at least four pictures of a subject that is accessible from close to and from a distance as the idea is to experiment how much space it takes up in the viewfinder. As a subject I chose my car, which is easy to transport to a suitable location. The location I chose is an empty, closed industrial building and its surroundings. I took four pictures for this exercise. The first one I took, is one that I did not consider the composition too much. (more…)
