Exercise: Diagonals
The previous exercise was about horozontal and vertical lines. This is about diagonals which should be easier to find because you can create diagonal lines using perspective. Diagonals are an important element in controlling the way someone looks at a photograph. (more…)
Exercise: Horizontal and vertical lines

The aim of this exercise is to find some different ways in which horizontal and vertical lines appear to the eye and camera. I noticed that when I was supposed to find elements that represent horizontal on vertical lines, my mind start to work in some sort of subconscious level and I start to see lines everywhere. I could see lines in buildings, trees, road markings, fences, shadows etc. The whole world is full of elements that, in a photograph, makes one see only lines. Or that the lines could be the main subject in the picture. (more…)
Nikon – What’s Your Story
Today I attended a seminar by Nikon Finland. There was product demonstrations and lectures about digital workflow, new software products and video editing. The most important and interesting was to have a chance to meet known masters of photography. That is Bill Frakes, http://billfrakes.com/ and Joe McNally, http://portfolio.joemcnally.com/ (more…)
Some pictures from last friday
I took some pictures of our sales and marketing people. I haven’t had time to go through all of them but the image above show some of the images I took. I was asked to photograph subjects like “closing a deal”, “business meeting” etc. There are about a hundred pictures on my computer to edit and select from. Preparing my first assingnment: Contrasts
I’m currently preparing my first assignment. This assignment is about finding contrasts like long/short, still/moving, straight/curved. I have noticed that when I have a project like this my mind starts to work on a subconscious level. I start to see “curves” everywhere and “smooth” or “rough”.
