I’m currently preparing my first assignment. This assignment is about finding contrasts like long/short, still/moving, straight/curved. I have noticed that when I have a project like this my mind starts to work on a subconscious level. I start to see “curves” everywhere and “smooth” or “rough”.
Having this some kind of project to do is helping creativity. You can not force creativity but you can feed it and give your mind something to work on. Just waiting a creative idea to pop up in one’s mind is no way to be productive.
Keep notes
Keep a notebook (pen & paper or electronic) and write down your ideas. Those ideas come but they go as easily if they are not written down. If you like to keep your ideas in computer it’s worth trying Evernote. I prefer Moleskines. I find it much easier to write and draw with pen and paper. Then again, Evernote is super easy to make notes by taking pictures with my iPhone. Which ever way you like, keep notes.
You do not consume your creativity by using it. Quite the opposite, the more you use it, the more you have it.
